Let's get this blog thing started!

So this is what blogging is, huh? Well, let's see what we can accomplish here...

First topic:
Sun exposure. Not very romantic or glamorous, I know, and no one wants a lecture about wearing sunscreen, so I'm not going to give you one. I really just want to tell you about ways you can diminish your existing sun damage with products and treatments here at the spa.

The best thing you can do for your skin is to prevent damage in the first place by wearing sunscreen! (OK, I slipped it in there) I recommend an SPF of 30, and remember to reapply every 2 hours to stay protected.
Our favorites are both moisturizer/sunscreen combos with some great added features.
  • PCA Skin, perfecting face & body hydrator SPF 30, 4oz $32. Not only a great moisturizer and sunscreen, it also has several ingredients that inhibit skin pigmentation.
  • Jan Marini Skin Research, AntiOxident Daily Face Protectant Tinted SPF 30, 2oz $51. A great moisturizer/sunscreen with the added benefit of a natural, sheer tint.
Next, there are several other options for treating pigmentation at home. PCA Skin makes no fewer than 10 individual products specifically designed to treat pigmented skin and even has a special kit that includes 7 of them.
  • PCA Skin, the pigment control solution, $54. Seven miniature products designed last about a month and to treat pigmented skin.
  • PCA Skin, pigment bar, 3.3oz $28. This is a unique product, it's a solid cleanser in a jar, and is ideal for treating larger areas, like the chest.
One of the best in-spa treatment options we offer for correcting pigment are peels. There are several peel options for your esthetician to choose from, and that determination will be made only after a thorough evaluation of your skin and your lifestyle. While some of these peels are very mild and show very little visible peeling, many of these treatments do cause visible peeling for a few days so you should plan accordingly, but the results can be amazing.
  • Light Glycolic or Lactic Acid Peels, 20 minutes, $45 (or a $20 add on to a facial).
  • PCA Skin Peels, 30-45 minutes, $85.
Remember, we offer free consultations and skin care evaluations. We're here to help.
